Gatlinburg Shop Feature: All Sauced Up

Who you travel with to the Gatlinburg area determines how you’ll spend most of your time. Some people love to hike and go straight to the Smokies, some love a bargain and head to the outlets. Others love the mini golf and other touristy things, and head to Pigeon Forge. Most people, though, find time to browse the little shops along the Gatlinburg strip. While you’re browsing, there is one shop you shouldn’t miss.

All Sauced Up is labeled a “kitchen fixins’” store. And there are tons of fun things to look at in there — from small kitchen appliances to baskets and serving dishes to tons and tons of jellies, jams and dips of all kinds.

Now we get to why it’s my favorite. Walk in and you’ll see — there are ALWAYS (well, every time I’ve stopped in…) lots of free samples sitting out. Now if you know me, you know that it doesn’t take much to win my heart. Give me something free, and I’m yours. My kids have learned well — in fact, we frequent the food court at our local mall not to buy the food, but for the free samples. My kids know which ones are the best and which ones are just okay, decent for ending hunger pains.

Anyway, back to All Sauced Up. According to their web site, they offer more than 150 samples EACH DAY! Wow! Now, before you envision stopping by for breakfast, lunch and dinner (I know, I’m way ahead of you. I’ve suggested it, but my husband just rolls his eyes.), realize that they aren’t all sitting out at a given time. But there will be 30-50 at any given time. Now that’s a lot of testing.

Some examples of what they have: barbecue sauces, jellies, jams, salsas, salad dressing, peanut butters and more. Yum! My favorite purchase from the shop was a little jar of caramel chocolate dip. We took it back to our hotel room and feasted on it with some pretzel sticks. Trust me, there’s something for everyone.

Anyway, I encourage you to stop by next time you’re downtown Gatlinburg. It’s a fun stop and a great place to look for that obscure gift. Oh, and it’s a perfect way to end those hunger pains.
