Gatlinburg Gets Sustainability Award

Congratulations, Gatlinburg!

Gatlinburg was awarded a 2011 Green Plus Award last week. It was one of five cities/areas chosen. Others were Chattanooga area; Cleveland, OH; Savannah, GA; and North Myrtle Beach, SC.

Gatlinburg’s specific award is the 2011 Green Plus Chamber of the Year Award for Leadership in Member Sustainability for its Gatlinburg Goes Green! program.

The awards are given for community-based innovation in sustainable economic development.

The award ceremony took place in Washington, D.C. Vicki Simms of the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce was on hand to accept the award.
