Sevierville Man Selling Beer Cheese

A new article by the Knoxville News tells the story of a man and his cheese. And it’s a fun story.

Apparently Randall Mitchell, of Sevierville, let his friend Steve Koplow sample his homemade beer cheese spread during a camping trip. The rest, as they say, is history.

The spread is called Smoky Mountain Beer Cheese, and it’s now in more than 2,700 grocery stores east of the Mississippi River. Next year, it will be available in all Kroger locations, putting it on the shelves of more than 5,000 stores.

The packaging features Barley the Bull, who was designed by Mitchell and Koplow. The cheese retails for $3.99. The company’s new facility in Seymour produces up to 60,000 tubs of cheese a day.
