According to WBIR, a Gatlinburg developer has big plans for the Parkway. Parkway Partners plans to tear down the former Midtown Lodge and replace it with a new chair lift.
The former Midtown Lodge lot will be turned into a parking lot for the new attraction. The chair lift will take visitors up the mountain to a new two-story building that will include a gift shop and a chain restaurant.
WBIR quoted Ned Vickers, with Parkway Partners, as saying, “Well, that’s why people come to the mountains here. They come to the mountains for our scenery. So to be able to go up there and have a nice meal while you’re looking out at this gorgeous view of Mt. LeConte and the rest of the range is something that we feel people will really want to do.”
The developers are working on a formal site plan to be filed with the city commissioners.
