Gatlinburg Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade

My tree is up. All the Christmas songs are on my iPod. There are presents wrapped and placed under the tree. Oh yes, I love Christmas!

It’s time for Gatlinburg to catch up! One week from today, Gatlinburg ushers in its Christmas season with the 37th annual Fantasy of Lights Parade! It will be held next Friday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. So bundle up and get your spot early!

According to the Chattanoogan, actress Catherine Bach, best known for her role as Daisy Duke on The Dukes of Hazard, and local skiing legen Rolf Ganz, will serve as the parade’s grand marshals.

More than 80,000 spectators are expected, so plan ahead for transportation! Know this — it will be a madhouse! The parade route follows the main Parkway from Traffic Light #1A to Traffic Light #10. The parade will last for about an hour and a half.

The parade will have more than 100 entries, including at least a dozen marching bands, and lots of giant helium balloons. Also, this year two pink fire trucks will be featured from the Radcliff/Vine Grove, Ky. Fire Department.

The Carousel Mall at Traffic Light #3 will be open prior to the parade, with opportunities for kids to meet Santa and lots of sweet treats.

Ho, ho, ho!
